Mirla Lettuce is a refined butterhead variety, known for its tightly packed heads of soft, pale green leaves and excellent buttery flavour. Its firm yet tender texture makes it a perfect addition to both fresh summer salads and sandwiches. With strong tolerance to heat and resistance to bolting, Mirla is a dependable choice for extended harvests through the warmer months.

Where Can You Grow Mirla Lettuce?
Ideal for Zones 3–9, Mirla grows well in full sun to partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. Perfect for raised beds, containers, and traditional garden rows.

History and Historical Uses
Butterhead lettuces like Mirla have long been appreciated across Europe and North America for their mild flavour and tender leaves. Selected for garden reliability and culinary appeal, this modern variety continues that tradition with strong performance and elegant flavour.

Canadian Zone Information
Zones 8–9: Sow directly from early spring to fall; successive sowing recommended.
Zones 5–7: Direct sow in spring and again in late summer for fall harvests.
Zones 3–4: Start indoors and transplant after last frost for early harvests; sow again in late summer.

How to Grow and Harvest Mirla Lettuce
Planting: Sow seeds 6mm (1/4in) deep, spaced 20–25cm (8–10in) apart.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist; avoid overhead watering to prevent rot.
Harvesting: Harvest full heads when firm or pick outer leaves for continual harvest.
Maintenance: Mulch to conserve moisture and cool the soil in hot weather.

Seed Saving Tips for Future Supply
Select Best Plants: Allow slowest-bolting, healthiest plants to flower.
Harvest Seeds: Collect seed heads once fully dry and brown.
Dry and Store: Dry seeds thoroughly; store in airtight containers in a cool, dark place.
Store: Seeds remain viable for 3–5 years.
