Cape Gooseberry

Cape Gooseberry, closely related to ground cherry, is a striking and productive plant grown for its delicious orange fruit wrapped in decorative papery husks. Reaching heights of up to 2m, these warm-loving plants perform best in greenhouses or the hottest corners of the garden. The fruit has a sweet, slightly tart flavour and is excellent fresh, cooked into desserts, or preserved as jam. Remarkably, it also stores well for several months if kept in its husks.
